Do You Like to Snack?

Are you tiptoeing into using cannabis by cooking or baking with it? Or maybe you’re already a “pro” and looking for some fresh new recipes to try this Spring.

 

Where to start?

The best place to start when journeying into cooking and baking with marijuana is to first prepare your basics – cannabutter and cannaoil. These two ingredients will help you add that awesome marijuana infusion to anything you bake or cook. 

 

The recipe:

6 grams marijuana (buy this at your favorite marijuana dispensary, Gulf Island Organics)

2 cups oil of your choice OR 1 lb salted butter

Spread marijuana evenly out on baking sheet and bake at 250F for 30-40 minutes, taking care it doesn’t burn. Once cool, grind it up as much as you can. If you’re not using this right away then store it in a cool, dark place and use within 2 months

Heat your choice of oil or butter in a saucepan over medium to low heat. Add your ground up cannabis and let it simmer/cook about 40-45 mins – be very careful not to let it burn!

Once cooled slightly, strain the mixture as much as you can and voila, you have your oil or butter. Either one will keep nicely in the refrigerator (covered) for up to 2 months (as if you could wait that long!)

You should probably just go ahead and make both, an oil AND a butter since you’ll need these for all the yummy snacks you’re going to want to make.

 

The disclaimer

We must add in here that you should keep your cannabis oils properly labeled in the fridge and make sure young people or those who don’t indulge won’t use them.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way let’s move on to the fun stuff…

 

Let’s bake!

It’s really easy to add cannabis to absolutely anything now that you’ve got your basics. Use your special butter and/or oil in really ANY recipe that calls for butter or oil. Scramble up some eggs using your butter, or even just spread it on toast.
